Compton Verney Wedding Styling & Flowers

If you’re planning a wedding at Compton Verney, you already know it isn’t a venue that needs dressing up for the sake of it. There’s art, beautiful light and a different feeling as you move from one space to another. The question is how to make your wedding feel personal within all of that.

For our styled shoot at this Warwickshire wedding venue, Beth of Floss & Bea Weddings wanted to explore modern romance through light, fashion, movement and the little unexpected details that make an image feel like you. Beth set the direction; I took that idea and built the flowers, backdrop and tablescapes around it. We chose burgundy, green and white, and let the colours take on a different character in each setting.

Wedding flowers for a gallery setting

Compton Verney’s artwork shaped one of the most important decisions we made. The gallery has unglazed pieces to protect, so our table centrepieces used silk hydrangeas in burgundy and green with burgundy anthuriums. They gave us the sculptural shapes and depth of colour we wanted while respecting the space. Fresh flowers featured elsewhere in the shoot, and we worked carefully with colour and form so the two felt connected.

That’s a useful thing to think about if you’re choosing wedding flowers for Compton Verney: start with what each room allows, then decide where fresh flowers will have the most impact. A considered mix of fresh and silk can still feel like one design.

A wedding tablescape with colour and character

On the tables, figs and grapes in varying shades picked up the rich tones in the flowers. Glass and gold lamps brought warmth, while the fruit added a little looseness to the arrangement. It felt romantic, but there was enough contrast and texture to keep it interesting up close.

You don’t have to repeat exactly the same arrangement on every surface to make a wedding look cohesive. We carried burgundy and green through the shoot, then adjusted the materials and scale to suit each space. It gave the tables their own identity without losing the thread of the whole day.

A backdrop that gave the cake and portraits their moment

The backdrop was one of the biggest parts of our design. It stood in a separate space from the tables and gave the cake and bridal portraits a setting of their own. We wanted something with presence that would work with the architecture rather than overwhelm it.

Sheree creates modern bridal hair that works with the whole look. For this shoot, she chose a sleek centre parting and a polished, low sculpted bun to complement the clean lines of the Rosa Clará gown. With a high neckline, statement pearl earrings and a veil, the simplicity of the hair let each detail have its moment. The finish took real precision, from the immaculate hairline and shine to the shape of the bun. Sheree is an award-winning bridal hair specialist and educator, and an ASP Global Ambassador.

Heart E Designs created the stationery for the shoot. Their approach is to “tell life and love stories through stationery”, so the details on the table can say something about the people at its heart. As they put it, “stationery is the glue that holds everything together” a way of carrying the feeling of a wedding through its different moments.
